DQ Cool SiteA while back Dairy Queen put out a simple and yet very entertaining mini-site where you can mix your own music track. The branded the experience and I found myself playing with the functionality a lot. It was a fun and unique way to spend an interactive budget and I am confident that they got the ROI they were looking for out of this.  Check it out at http://www.dqslowjam.com/ .

The future of the Internet clearly will involve video.  Just take a look at what UPS has done with their whiteboard campagin at http://whiteboard.ups.com.  This is a great example of how to use video with the traditional website jargon.

Video in website

This campaign also involved banners on yahoo.com that included the whole site within the banner.  You could interact with the whole site without leaving the page.

Some people invest in technology for technology’s sake without any thought to why it is a good business decision.  Not S+T Products.  I spoke with their VP of operations today and got to hear about how they are utilizing technology.  One of the things that they are doing is bar coding their entire catalog.  When someone pages through their catalog looking to buy things, they are handed a hand-held bar code reader.  When they see a product that they like, they simply scan it.  When they are done looking, they download their bar code reader to a web-based application that puts all of their products into their shopping cart.  They click “Buy” and their order is sent off.

This may not sound like much, but other companies that I have talked to that are the same size or even larger are still trying to put up a respectable website.  It is refreshing to hear about how someone actually uses technology as a way to increase sales.

I thought that this Flip book idea was realy cool.  This website allows you to upload a 30 second video and you get a flip book sent to you a little while latter.  For only $6.99 you can preserve your video in paper format.  Who doesn’t love to see Junior do a summersault over and over again?

Guess what my whole family is getting for Christmas???

I just read this article about an unique butterfly:

 Butterfly

This unique butterfly has a logo branded into it’s DNA that shows under a microscope.  What did these genius scientist brand on this butterfly?  A silhouette of a butterfly.

Maybe this is already old news, but I just found a new user-generated social networking site that gives articles based on popularity.  It is called digg.

I just added a blog feature to my website.  Pretty cool, huh?  Let’s see if I actually keep it updated.  Just for fun, let’s start off the blog with a photo:
